How Do I Configure Video Capture Compression?
Different compression syntaxes can be applied to still images and cine images. The Compression menu visible below is accessed by clicking Settings > Server Settings > Compression > DICOM Communication / Import tab. The settings in this menu affect compression settings used when acquiring new images through document scanning, film digitizing, import or video capture.
The Still Compression dropdown menu determines the compression method used when capturing still images (single frame). The Cine Compression dropdown menu determines the compression method that will be used when capturing cine images (multi-frame). If the JPEG Lossy compression is used for cine images, the Cine JPEG Quality track bar determines the quality factor used by the algorithm. If Cine Compression is not set to JPEG Lossy, this track bar has no effect.
The JPEG 2000 Lossy Ratio trackbar sets the default lossy compression ratio used when performing JPEG 2000 lossy compression on images. A ratio of 30 provides 30:1 lossy compression. JPEG 2000 lossy ratio is only used during communication.
The Lossy JPEG Quality trackbar sets the default JPEG quality factor used when performing JPEG lossy compression on images. A quality factor of 75 is the default.
