Finding Studies on Remote Machines

Sometimes the need will arise to locate a study that does not currently reside on the machine you are on. Instead of physically logging into every other DICOM device and searching for the study, you can use the Remote Studies search facility built into the software. Click the Remote Studies tab.

In order to search a specific station, choose that device from the Stations: dropdown menu. Next enter any other criteria that will help narrow down the search and press the Start Search button. The results returned will be a listing of studies on the remote machine. Once you have found the desired study, two options exist for pulling it to the local machine.

Pressing the Request button will pull the study over and place it into the database of your system. If multiple studies are being pulled, the Request Priority: field can be used to determine which studies arrive first. For example, if a study is requested with Low priority and there are already ten requested studies in the queue, the new request will be placed at the end and will not be attempted until all the other studies have arrived. Furthermore, if a higher priority study is requested before the first ten requests are finished, that study will be placed ahead of the low priority one.
