Diagnosis Codes
The Diagnosis Codes are used to group and identify diseases, disorders, symptoms, and medical signs.
- Click RIS Settings > Diagnosis Codes. Diagnosis Codes Setting screen appears as shown below. You can create, view and edit existing diagnosis codes in the screen shown below.

- Click New. A new row is added to the existing list.
- Type the identification code in the Diagnosis Code text field.
- While you click on the Sex drop-down menu to select gender, the row in which you are typing data will be moved in ascending order within the existing list.
- Type the name of the diagnosis in the Description text field.
- Ensure, Active checkbox is checked. It denotes that the diagnosis code you are creating remains active. By default, the Active checkbox is checked when you click New.
- Select the Critical checkbox to set a flag if the diagnosis code is crucial.
- Click Alert Message text field to type a note on the criticality/complications. Upon click, the fonts in the entire row you are working will be changed into red color. This indicates that the diagnosis code you have created holds top priority.
- Type a special note in the Alert Message text field. By default all Reading Physicians, Performing Physicians, Performing Technologists and transcriptionists have been granted privilege to view this.
- The Alert Message is displayed when the Critical Alert button is pressed in the Alerts toolbar. The message is also displayed when the Study Info form is opened by the user. The Alert Message is mandatory for Critical Diagnosis Codes.
- If the Diagnosis code is not critical, it is still possible to create an Alert Message in the diagnosis code screen. This non critical message will appear in black when the Study Info form is opened.
- It is possible to have more than one diagnosis codes. In this case, the Diagnosis codes will be displayed in the alert pop up message when the critical alert button is pressed inside the study or when the study info form is opened. The alerts will be displayed in numerical order. Critical alerts will be in red while non critical alerts will be displayed in black.
- Click Save to save the changes.
- The Procedure Codes can be duplicated and deleted with the Duplicate and the Delete buttons available at the bottom of the form.
You can search for an existing diagnosis code by entering the description or the diagnosis code number in the search window at the top. Entering the description or diagnosis code will filter the entries in the table and only display diagnosis codes which match the criteria given.
