Creating Dragon Macros in MS Word

It is possible to define macros in MS Word. These can perform particular tasks inside the document viewer.

In MS Word 2003, open the template and go to Tools > Macro > Record a Macro. In MS Word 2007, open the template and go to View > Macros > Record a Macro.

  1. When the Record Macro window opens, enter a name for the macro e.g. "Next Variable" and store your macro in the appropriate location e.g. "Documents Based on XR ABDOMEN FLAT 7 UPRIGHT.DOT".
note

You cannot save the macro in "Normal.DOT" format because it is a global template and will change the settings of MS Word.

  1. Click OK.

  2. The macro will start recording every action you take.

  3. Press Ctrl + H.

  4. When the Find and Replace window opens, select the Find tab and type [[][<]*[>][]] in the search field.

  5. Click on the More >> button at the bottom left of the form and check the Use wildcards checkbox.

  6. Click on the Find Next button.

  1. After searching, you can close the Find and Replace form.

  2. Click on the Stop Recording button.

  1. Press Alt+F9 to view and edit the macro.

  2. Create as many macros as needed.

  3. Browse the new template under the Template Manager in PowerReader.

  4. Ensure that the macro's name matched the one under the appropriate config entry.

note

Although a "step-by-step" macro can be created in Dragon where the Alt+F9 command can be entered to switch focus to the document viewer, PowerReader is capable of inserting Dragon text/graphic macro document regardless of which PowerReader window is in focus.
