Date & Time Last Run Column

Indicates the last date that the task in question was run, and the time it was started.

DB Backup Task

Creates a set of database backup files (.GBK files) which may be later copied to a network folder or to removable media. These files can be used to restore the database in case of a crash or corruption. This task should be run daily to maintain the best possible disaster recovery resources. The task creates one backup file on each day of the week that it is executed, for a total of eight backup files named pacs0.gbk - pacs7.gbk.

DB Sweep Task

Optimizes database indexes and removes references to deleted entries.

Default Fee Schedule

Assigns the Fee Schedule to Facilities that have not been assigned a Facility Fee Schedule.

Default Modality

Used when creating a new study to acquire images using a document scanner, film digitizer, video capture, or importing a file. Unless the scheduled modality is modified, the default modality will be applied

Default Search Screen drop-down menu

Determines which dialog will open when the software is launched. Clicking the drop-down arrow opens the full list.

Default Status Name

Default name associated with study status

Default Style

Will give the tool its default appearance.

Delete all button

Will remove all spine labels from the study.

Delete all Except Selected option

Delete all of the Presentation States associated with the image, except for the currently active one

Deleted Selected Option

Will remove the Presentation State.

Diagnosis Codes

Medical diagnosis codes are a method by which healthcare professionals request payment for services rendered in a multitude of medical and healthcare scenarios. All medical insurance claims submitted to insurance companies must be accompanied by a medical code for the condition, treatments, diagnosis and any procedures performed by a healthcare provider for the treatment of illness, injury or disease.

A standard for handling, storing, printing, and transmitting information in medical imaging.

A dictionary containing the definitions of DICOM Tags, VR, Name, VM, and Version #. Located in the RamSoft Service Manual

DICOM fields

Every DICOM field contains a specific piece of DICOM meta data such as image size, dimension, bit depth, modality used etc.

The header for a DICOM file containing information about the patient's name, the type of scan, image dimensions etc.

DICOM Heartbeat

Automatically monitors the DICOM connectivity and ensure that all communication occurs smoothly.

A message following the DICOM protocol.

DICOM Objects

An object which can be transferred through a DICOM communication and contains attributes such as Name, ID etc.

DICOM Operation

The action performed by PowerServer. For example, the transmission of the study will be the DICOM operation being performed

A test feature that verifies connectivity

DICOM Printers

A printer with the ability to print DICOM images.

DICOM Printing

A process of printing DICOM images.

DICOM Queries

The method used by PowerServer for communicating with other PACS servers.

DICOM Send Negotiation

Used for negotiating transfer syntax. Before two stations begin exchanging DICOM data, they have to negotiate the best method for the transfer. This is done by each side presenting its possible choices until a match is made. The order that the RamSoft station will negotiate in is based on this section.

DICOM Service

A DICOM service is a specific set of operations to be preformed. For example, the DICOM storage service class defines the operations necessary to facilitate the transfer of DICOM objects from one system to another.

DICOM Station

The station from where the DICOM objects will be received.

DICOM storage section

The portion of the CB Works software setting dealing with the Application Title, Node and Port Fields.

DICOM tag number

The specific number identifying a DICOM tag.

DICOM tags

The tag inside the DICOM header containing important information about the image and the study.

Dictaphone PowerScribe

The speech recognition software which enables physicians to dictate, edit and electronically sign reports created by the program.

Dictated

Means the study has to have a dictation and if the Report Status is Preliminary or Final, this means that there has to be a report with Preliminary or Final status.

Digitize

Clicking Digitize will open the Study Desktop and automatically load up the Film Digitizing toolbar so images can be acquired from the digitizer.

Display Compression

Refers to the quality of the images that the user will be provided with, when downloading images across the Internet. These settings are configurable on a per study type basis, and each user has the option of which settings they would prefer.

Display Layout

Allows the user to choose the number of view boxes that should be visible on the screen.

Display scout thumbnail

Will display a scout thumbnail for each series in the bottom right corner of each viewport.

Display Series Thumbnails

Displays series information in the thumbnail images.

The console used to view Structured Report (SR) documents of a study

DVD RAM

DVD-RAM (DVD Random Access Memory) is a disc specification presented in 1996 by the DVD Forum, which specifies re-writable DVD-RAM media and the appropriate DVD writers.

Dynamic Zoom

The tool that allows the ability to perform zoom, pan, window level, image navigation, image maximization and right click image manipulations without extra clicks on toolbar buttons to switch function mode.
