How Do I Create a New Connection Path?
To create a new Connection Path, you will need to launch the Connection Path dialog. This dialog is accessible by clicking Settings > Server Settings > Connection Paths. Here general connection paths can be created. Once a Connection Path has been created, it will not be used until clients are specified for the Connection Path.

To create a Connection Path, follow these steps:
-
Click New. This will place the words "<Enter new name>" into the Available Connection Path Definitions dropdown menu.
-
Enter a name for the new Connection Path.
-
From the Connection Items list choose the required starting point. A starting point can be either a PowerCache or a PowerReader client.
-
Click the top arrow to move the item into the path. At this point the item will appear in the Current Connection Path definition box. It will also become visible in the Description of Connection Path diagram.
-
Choose the next item from Connection Items. If PowerCache is chosen, a Connection Item name, as well as a Connection Item location, needs to be entered. It is recommended that the name should be easily identifiable with the machine it refers to. Conversely, Connection Item Location should be entered in the specific format of hostname:port. This comprises the machine hostname and the specific port number the cache service is listening on.
-
Continue adding new Connection Items until your connection path is complete. The graphic in the Description of Connection Path window should reflect the order of your newly created Connection Path. To remove an item from the path, simply highlight it and click the bottom arrow pointing to the left.
-
Once the Connection Path is completed as required, click the Save button.
