Adding New DICOM Station
Prerequisite:
You must possess AE Title information, IP Address, and Port # before you create a new DICOM station.
How to Create New Station
- Click Settings > Server Settings > Station List. Station List screen appears as shown below.

-
Click New Station found at the bottom.
-
Type in the name of the new station in the Station text field.
-
Type the IP Address and Port number of the station which will be used for DICOM communication in the IP Address and Port text fields respectively. If the IP Address is dynamic, type the Name of the machine in the IP Address field.
-
Check Use Replication checkbox if your business demands to send and receive images with other systems. By selecting this checkbox, you are just enabling the send and receive option. However, only by providing the web site address you could send and receive images.
-
Type the web site address of the station where the images will be sent to in the URL text field. For further information, please refer to the section How Do I Configure the Replication Services Settings?
-
Check the Encrypt Data (TLS) checkbox if you wish to encrypt the DICOM communication. Note that encrypted DICOM communication is not supported between PowerServer 5.1 R3 and PowerServer 6.0 PRU 8. A workaround on 5.1 R3 is to use the Replication Service.
-
Check the DICOM Heartbeat checkbox if you wish this feature be activated based on your business requirement.
-
Click the Connection drop-down menu and select the appropriate dial-up connection if you establish the connection with a phone line. If a Dial-Up Connection is configured, the system will dial the connection number, connect, perform the DICOM tasks it has been given and then hang up.
-
Check the desired DICOM Services this remote station will support. The Receive checkbox will allow your RamSoft station to receive studies from the remote station, while Send checkbox will allow your RamSoft station to send studies to the remote station. If the remote station will be used as a Modality Worklist server, the Worklist option should be ticked. If the remote station will be servicing DICOM queries, the Query option should be ticked. Finally, if the remote station is a DICOM printer, the Print service should be checked.
-
Click OK.
Configuration Notes
When these services are added, advanced configuration options become available for each service. These advanced configuration options can be accessed by clicking on the tab with the corresponding service name on it. For example, in the screen shot above, Send, Receive, Query, Worklist and Print service has been given to the remote device, so the Send, Receive, Query, and Print tabs appear next to General Service tab. Clicking these tabs will open the screen with the advanced configuration options for the corresponding service.
To learn more about how to configure those advanced options, use the related links below. Once you have added the station, click OK to complete the task. DICOM communication with the new station can be tested by highlighting the station in the list and clicking Test Connection. A pop up message will appear indicating whether the communication test was successful or if it failed.
