Creating & Administering Users
When a new system is installed, the system administrator must create user accounts for everyone that will be accessing the system. Every user must belong to a group. This group membership determines what studies the user is able to access. Furthermore, each group encompasses a role. A role determines what privileges the user has within the system. So, the creation of user accounts is composed of three parts. First, roles are created for the different user types accessing the system (e.g. radiologists, technologists, etc.). Secondly, groups are defined for roles in order to limit study access for different groups of user types. And thirdly and finally, users are created and assigned to groups.
The Roles Overview section explains how to create roles. It also explains all the privileges in full detail. The Groups Overview section explains how to create groups and the purpose of groups within the system. Finally, the Adding New Users section describes the process of creating new users.
After user accounts have been created, personalized Worklists can be created for each user. This is explained in the Creating & Editing Personalized Worklists section. Personalized Worklists increase productivity and reduce stress levels by removing the need for tedious manual tasks, such as searching for studies to work on.
Once user accounts have been created and Worklists have been customized, the layout of images that each user sees should be configured. The Viewing Protocols section explains how to create default Viewing protocols as well as custom protocols that will cater to certain users.
Finally the Customizing My Tools section describes how each user can customize their toolbar's and menus in order to gain the easiest access to commonly used features of the software and to hide unnecessary options.
The Advanced User Administration section covers the User Config table as well as some other powerful user administration tools, that are only available to system administrators.
Note: The User List window including Roles and Groups, is accessible by clicking Settings > Users and Facilities > Users.
