How Do I DICOM Push a Study?
To manually DICOM Push a Study, first locate that study in your Worklist. If situation demands to push multiple studies to the same destination simultaneously, highlight multiple studies by holding the Ctrl key (or the Shift key for studies which are listed together) to select the desired studies. Once all the desired studies are selected, press Send Study to Another Station icon.
Determine the target to push to. The studies can be pushed to another DICOM station, to a PowerReader client machine or to a User that is currently logged in.
If Target is set to Station, the Destination dropdown menu will be composed of all the DICOM stations that the system recognizes.
If Target is set to Client, the Destination drop-down menu will contain all of the PowerReader client machines that are associated with the server.
If Target is set to User, the Destination drop-down menu will consist of all the users that are currently logged into the system.
Next, determine the Priority these studies should be sent with. If there are other studies currently being transmitted by the system, the priority will determine the sequence in which they are sent. Pushing a study will send Presentation State series and the images to the other station. At this moment, the user also has the option to Push Prior Studies of the patient along with the current study. To do so, select the Enable checkmark in the Push Study Prior section of the dialogue and choose a priority for the prior studies.
The user has the option to choose the same priority as the current study or to choose a different priority for the prior study. The SAME AS CURRENT priority is the default option.
Pressing the OK button will add the selected items to the queue. The progress of these DICOM Pushed Studies can be monitored by clicking Settings > Logs > Communication > Transmit Log tab.

The Transmit Log is composed of two sections. The first section is found under the Pending tab. This section contains a list of all the studies that are currently being DICOM Pushed, have been scheduled for a DICOM Push and are queued up, or have failed.
The Status column determines what is currently happening with the study. Any given study will have one of the following associated with it.
- SCHEDULED - Indicates the study has been scheduled for DICOM transfer. It is queued up and will be sent once the communication lines are free or its scheduled time window occurs.
- IN PROGRESS - Indicates the study is currently being pushed.
- WAITING FOR PROCESSING - Indicates that a study has completed transmitting all objects and is waiting for objects to be saved. One example is when a document is waiting to be signed.
- FAILED - Indicates the requested DICOM operation was attempted and has failed. A study that has Failed has its priority value decreased by one. If after this demotion it is still the highest priority study in the list, it is reattempted immediately. If its priority value is now lower than other studies in the list, transmission of those studies will take place first. Once the Failed study becomes the highest priority again, it will be reattempted. The software will reattempt to send each failed study up to ten times.
- TOO MANY FAILURES - Indicates the system has attempted to push the study ten times and has failed in each attempt. Once this state has been reached, the system will wait for one hour before attempting to send it again.
If a study reaches one of the failed statuses, it can be manually restarted by highlighting it and clicking the Resume button. Any study in the list can be removed from the Transmit list by highlighting it clicking the Delete button. Clicking the + button in the Details column will open a listing of any errors or warnings that are associated with the sending of the study. These errors or warnings will also show up in the Error Log.
Clicking the Completed tab will open the list of all the successfully transferred studies.

This list will only contain studies that have fully transferred. Clicking the + button in the Details column will display any errors or warnings that occurred during the transfer. Entries in this list are a legal record and cannot be removed or edited.
Note that the User Name "External DICOM" in the Transmit Log (below) indicates that the request came from a C-MOVE request by another device.
