Shutter

Sometimes images acquired from devices such as an RF camera will have a lot of noise around the medical data. For example, a bright white background can be blinding when being viewed on grayscale monitors. Such noise can be filtered out using the Shutter icon on the Annotation Tools toolbar.

The Shutter can be a rectangle, a circle, or a freehand region. The shape of the shutter can be chosen from the Shutter icon Drop-down Menu.

Shutter Types

The icon associated with the shape you choose will appear in the toolbar. Clicking it will activate the Shutter tool. To place a Circle Shutter over the image, simply place three points around the perimeter of the circle. To place a Freehand Shutter over the image, simply draw the shape that you want around the edges of the image. Make sure that the starting and ending points meet.

When you activate the Shutter tool for an image, it is applied to all the images in the frameset.

To place a Rectangle Shutter over the image, click on the top left edge of the usable image and drag the square down to the bottom right corner.

note

To temporarily view the whole image while a shutter is in place, click and hold the left mouse button on the image. Release the mouse button to display the shutter again.
