Finding & Organizing Data

One of the most common tasks is locating and accessing patient data. The Workflow functionality of the software automates all these tasks. Once Workflow has been properly configured, each user only sees the study they want to access on their own PowerWorklist (or simply Worklist). These studies disappear from the Worklist automatically when they no longer need to be displayed for the user.

A user will see the Worklist when they first logs into the system. The Worklist provides access to the users' studies as well as a variety of operations that can be performed on those studies. Each users Worklist is their personally organized space and can be modified. The Using the Power Worklist section gives an overview of the Worklist and provides instructions on how to customize it.

Once patient and study data are located, it is helpful to view individual cases in more detail. Two sections are dedicated to this task. The Viewing & Editing Details About a Patient section details how to view and edit information that pertains to details about the patient. The Viewing & Editing Details About a Series section explains how to view and modify information pertaining to series of images.

The next topics describes the addition of new patient information into the system. See the topics on: Creating a New Patient and Creating a New Series.

The functionality of pushing studies out to other DICOM stations, PowerReader clients and specific users is covered in the DICOM Push section. The capability of creating Worklist reports is also documented in the Printing a List of the Cases on My Worklist section.

Even though Workflow has been automated, sometimes the need to search for a study arises. The functionality to search through the system database is detailed in the Using the Search List section.

Sometimes, searches outside of the system must be conducted. A user may need to search through other DICOM stations on the network in order to find a specific patient or study. This functionality is also available in the software and is detailed in the Finding Studies on Remote Machines section.

Finally, the RamSoft software offers the capability of viewing the DICOM Worklist from a third party application. This option can be very useful if a third party RIS is driving the Workflow of the RamSoft station and studies. The usage of this functionality is described in the Viewing a DICOM Worklist of Another Machine section.
