What's New

The following is a list of new features in PowerReader 6.0 with links to the relevant topics in this User Manual.

Meaningful Use Stage 2 (2014 Edition)​

RamSoft PowerServer is now certified by ONC-ATCB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services as a Complete Ambulatory EHR for Meaningful Use Stage 2 (2014 Edition). Essence™​

Essence, a completely new BI tool, the next generation of the well-known Management Report, is accessible on Tablet (iOS and Android), and popular desktop browser such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Safari. Essence includes numerous pre-defined reports and dashboards.

Essence+ is an available option that will offer the ability to build custom reports. Some of the new and powerful features include the following:

  • Creating and saving your own Analysis Reports for analyzing data easily just by dragging and dropping fields
  • Creating your own Dashboards quickly and easily based on existing Analysis Reports, Interactive Reports or by using pre-defined reports produced by Report Designer
  • Creating customizable themes and layouts

RapidResults™​

An FDA-approved diagnostic review tool, the next generation of the well-known Mobile Physical Portal, RapidResults is accessible on phone (iOS and Android), tablet (iOS and Android), and popular desktop browsers such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Safari.

With RapidResults, you can adjust the image layout, and use many image viewing tools such as window/level, distance measurement, flip, rotate, plane linking, scout lines, toggle annotations, invert, and reset.

PowerReader 6.0 Login Portal​

PowerReader 6.0 introduces a new login portal that is simplified, yet more useful and provides you with quicker access to relevant applications. A Single Sign On (SSO) lets you access PowerReader, Essence, PracticeSuite, System Check and Ramsoft Support.

You can access a specific application based on the privileges assigned to your role. This page is supported on Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari browsers and is accessible via smart phones, tablets, notebooks and desktops.

Redesigned User Interface Themes​

PowerServer 6.0 now includes a Light theme and a Dark theme so they could be configured according to the working environments of different users. For instance, the Front Desk role could use the Light theme, while the Radiologist and Technologist can use the Dark theme since they are mostly working in dark room environment. Patient Explorer Redesign​

The current Patient Explorer only displays thumbnails for one study at a time. The new Patient Explorer now allows users to display thumbnails from multiple studies without waiting to load the images that belong to those studies.

This new redesign enables you to:

  • Speed up study loading performance
  • Easily group studies
  • Compare the current study with any priors quickly
  • Customize Study List
  • Dock the Patient Explorer to any edge of the Study Desktop

Document Viewer Redesign​

The Document Viewer now supports opening of multiple documents, each in a separated tab, just like a web browser. The toolbar and icons are completely redesigned to deliver a better look and feel.

You can now change a report from being signed to an earlier status if you have missed any information or signed the report accidentally. For more information, please refer to the topic How Do I Sign Preliminary Reports?

The Document Viewer supports three possible layouts:

  • No Split mode: Report tabs for Editing and Viewing are integrated into single page (Default)
  • Horizontal Split mode: Page with tabs for Editing reports and Page with tabs for Viewing are split horizontally
  • Vertical Split mode: Page with tabs for Editing reports and Page with tabs for Viewing are split vertically

For report editing, Microsoft Word is still required, but the third party plugins (such as Acrobat Reader) are no longer required to view the documents. The PDF viewer in Document Viewer supports searching within a PDF document.

Additional Bookmarks are now included and you now have one click access to the Scan document interface. For more information on Document Viewer, please refer to the section Viewing the reports in the topic, How do I create and View Reports?

PowerServer RIS/PACS/PM​

RamSoft offers an embedded solution for radiology Workflow and claims management, powered by PracticeSuite. It's a complete web-based solution, so radiology practices can manage their radiology and billing processes from anywhere. PowerServer RIS/PACS/PM includes the following additional features:

  • HIPAA 5010 and ICD-10 compliance
  • Patient Payments processing, Printing Receipts, Tracking Balances, Ledgers and Statements
  • Real-Time Eligibility Verification

IHE Basic Image Viewer Compliance​

RapidResults™ and PowerReader™ are fully complied with the IHE Basic Image Review trial standard. Image Viewer now supports Image linking and Series splitting. System Configuration Redesign​

System Configuration window is now organized into a tree structure, similar to a Windows file explorer tree view . You can now search Configuration entries using the Search feature. For more information on System Configuration, please refer to the topic, System Configuration.

Multi-lingual Unicode Support​

RamSoft PowerServer now fully support any language through the Unicode UTF-8 standard. DICOM and HL7 also include the same multi-lingual Unicode support.

Performance Improvements with 64-bit Application​

PowerServer now includes support for 64-bit on the server and client (PowerReader™) sides. This allows radiologist Workstation to perform MPR or PET/CT Fusion on large studies much faster.

Messaging​

Messaging allows communication among PowerReader users and with RapidResults with direct addresses. PowerReader users can send and receive local messages too. "Direct Messaging" feature allows physicians to email other physicians, patients, and others in an authenticated and secure way. The new messaging interface enables you to:

  • Receive referrals and convert them into appointments
  • Send reports to referring physicians
  • View, import, and send attachments
  • Import patient records via CCDA, CCD and CCR files

Global Template for Imaging Facility​

The SR Text Report Header is now replaced with a global template. You can create a configurable template and now add it to an Imaging Facility. This template can render reports in text or any other attached formats. For more information on this new feature, please refer to the topic Creating an Imaging Facility.

Mammography Viewing Protocols Enhancements​

You can now view MG images in Stack mode layout by default. For more information, please refer to the topic How Do I Configure Mamography Viewing Protocols?

Newer and Faster Scheduler​

The Scheduler now includes a new design which provides more convenience for the user, and significantly boosts up its overall performance. For more information on Scheduler, please refer to the section Scheduler under RIS Features.
